The name means “bread of salt” and comes from the Portuguese. The pandesal bun itself, which can trace its origins back to the 16th century, is the Filipino equivalent of a dinner bun. The pandesal has a slightly sweeter flavor than other buns and is soft with a chewy texture. It is meant to be enjoyed anytime of the day and is perfect when served with a favorite meat, spread or jam. Trans fat free. Sustainably made from wholesome ingredients

1. Breakout & Thaw

Break product out onto flat baking sheets in 2 nested groups of 12. Remember to keep belt mark of bun down. Cover rack and put in retarder or cooler overnight to thaw.
2. Morning

Remove rack from retarder or cooler. Coat buns in bread crumb topping. Put back into proofer or keep plastic cover on if floor proofing product until space is available in proofer. Proof until product is about 2 – 3 times its original size. This should take approximately 40- 60 minutes.

3. Bake Time

SCORING: None
Bake Pandesal Bun at 375˚F for 13 – 16 minutes, or until golden brown. When bake cycle is complete remove from pans and let product cool completely before packaging.
