We’ve been supplying quality frozen-dough products to western Canadian bakers and grocers since 1994. During that time, we’ve grown to become one of the most-trusted suppliers of over 100 quality products made with premium ingredients. We’re committed to increasing our production capacity to meet demand and growth while also maintaining the ability to supply small-batch quantities to help our customers with their product development strategies.
Small Beginnings
In the early 90’s the baking industry was making a move from scratch to frozen dough. This is when our story began. Philip Thornton, a partner in Bakers Dozen Bakery, and Kevin Fors, the company’s Production Manager, saw a need for a provider of quality frozen dough. In 1994 Phil and Kevin partnered to establish OK Frozen Dough at a small location in Vernon BC. They knew they would be considered a small player competing with bigger brands, and they would need to prove themselves. Quality of product and efficiency of service would have to be first-class. Their hard work and determination would be the recipe for success in this competitive market.
Rising Up
One of our first customers was Butcher Boys Grocery, who still today, continue to be a very strong supporter of OK Frozen Dough. As our customer base and demand grew quickly, a new state-of-the-art facility was constructed just a few years later at our current location in Armstrong, BC. The plant was designed to meet food safety standards and improve overall efficiency while maintaining the high-quality standards that OK Frozen Dough had become known for. Equipment was added, product development occurred, and production procedures were fine-tuned. The company was still primarily serving the Okanagan, Interior, and Kootenay region. The growing popularity of frozen dough at that time meant more and more in-store bakeries were switching from scratch to frozen dough and it wasn’t long before OK Frozen Dough was supplying major grocery retailers across Western Canada.

Proof of Success
In 2006, OK Frozen Dough began construction on a 10,000 square foot addition to our main facility to make way for added production space. A spiral freezer was invested in, to improve internal production efficiencies. Shortly after, construction began on yet another 10,000 square foot addition to the plant. This second addition increased our holding capacity and production space. During this period, OK Frozen Dough became a third-party audited facility, which lead to a formal GMP Food Safety Plan. As demand for our quality products grew it became necessary to install a second spiral freezer.

Baked to Perfection
In the past few years, volume has continued to increase to the point where our company has become a seven-day per week operation. New systems have been implemented to help manage and improve efficiency in all aspects of production and food safety. The plant also became an SQF-certified facility validating OK Frozen Dough’s stringent food safety program. Our company has grown to become one of the most respected suppliers of frozen dough products in Western Canada, with products being delivered to major grocery retailers as well as numerous independent bakeries and grocers across the west. In 2016, OK Frozen Dough was purchased by a family run company that believes in long term sustainable growth. Today we are 25 years strong, with Bruce Glaicar (CEO) and James Godfray (Plant Manager) leading the company our founders so successfully started.
